Happy Easter! ~ Baby Updates

Happy Easter Finch lovers! I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful day ~ painting eggs, dressing up in Spring colors or just spending time with loved ones.

I had a nice little surprise in one of the nest boxes I checked today – 3 of 6 eggs hatched from the “lazy incubator” pair. Mom is usually more interested in what is going on in the aviary rather than her nest box but for this clutch she was very attentive so I left them with her. I’m so glad I did!

If you’ve been following along, these hatchlings are from the same parents as the Society-fostered ones. Ivar & Isabelle (Fawn OB BB x BC CFW) are really beautiful birds, I can’t wait to see what kind of markings they will have. Especially since Ivar is a very true OB BB in that his markings are less uniform and more painted-looking, spreading out across his body.

Baby #4 to the far left just opened its eyes today! Its a couple of days behind the 3 siblings so baby #4 still has feathers mostly in pins as you can see : )

Thank you to everyone for your continued support!

All of the babies pictured, from fledglings to chicks to hatchlings are all spoken for. If you’d like to reserve a pair, email me with a completed application.
