Veterinary Care
It is always a good idea to use an avian-specific veterinarian for your Zebra Finches. It is especially important for breeders to have an Avian Vet in their pocket because breeders will run into issues at some point and need to be able to provide proper vetting for their birds.

Most good veterinary clinics have at least one Avian Veterinarian on staff. There are also very helpful websites where you can pay a small fee to have your questions answered by a knowledgeable avian vet. I have personally used Just Answer – Birds for non-emergency issues with success in the past.

I have also used Banfield @ Petsmart for as long as I’ve had animals. Their staff and products are really great and they always have a good avian vet on call. They also have monthly plans for breeders and anyone else that needs to make multiple visits each month but do not want to pay per visit. I highly recommend them.

    Hello!
I was hoping to adopt some of your finches, but sadly, you don’t have any left! I was trying to get in contact with Lori from the Finch Fanatic since she came so highly recommended in your breeder review; however, the e-mail at the NFSS Member Aviaries site seems to be broken. Do you have contact information or an e-mail you can give me?

    • Hello Diana! Lori and Laura are 2 different breeders in California, Laura Watkins being the Finch Fanatic who I recommend highly. I’ll send you the most current email I have for her privately, not sure if she wants it publicly listed!

    • Hello Jiji! I’m not a store, I’m a hobbyist breeder operating my aviary out of my home. At the moment I’m going through a move into a new house and am therefore not accepting visitors. If you’d like I can let you know when we’re settled in and ready to accept visitors again (next week or within the next month).

Hi Chelsea! I saw an ad for Zebra Finches on Hoobly, and I would really like to get some tonight, if that is possible. I also saw that you cannot have visitors today, so do you know of any other places where I could get finches? I live in Seattle, if that is of any help. Thanks!
    Tim

    • Hey there Tim! Thanks for considering TWFA for your Zebra Finches!

Unfortunately I’m in the middle of a move as you mentioned and won’t be available for visitors until next week or possibly the end of the month. That being said I don’t know of any breeders within the area that I would personally recommend. All of the breeders I knew previously have gotten out of the hobby. I did recently sell a couple pairs of unrelated offspring to Bridges Pets in Snohomish, WA which may still be available. BC CFW & Phaeo to be specific.

Mostly I use a waiting list system because my offspring are spoken for well in advance. When I end up with a dozen or so clutches of babies at a time they’re usually already sold or shipped within days. I keep a waiting list to ensure that everyone gets the colors or mutations they like the most.

      • Tim Helming says:

Hello again, Chelsea! Just the grey/ spotted zebra finches, if those are available. Thank you so much again! When would be a good time to pick them up?

        • I specifically don’t keep any Pied (spotted), Silver or Crested Zebras as they ruin lines, but I always have some Normal Gray around! I have a single pair at the moment whom I’m re-homing for free. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in let me know and we can schedule a day for you to visit and pick them up.

For business purpose what type of breeding system of Zebra Finch is more active and productive between cage breeding and colony breeding?
